Sharing
the best kept secret - “Who is the GFWC of Massachusetts ?
“
How
do we tell everyone about GFWC of MA?
- Submit
news about Club activities to area newspapers.
Most have a calendar of local events.
Post meeting dates & locations, invite the public to
come. Community project or event? Invite someone
from the press.
- Cable
TV – local public access channels
- Town/City
locales – if your town/city has a website, is there
a community information section where meeting dates and activities can
be listed. Also bulletin boards in places
such as libraries or community centers.
- Information
brochures/handouts – Great brochures are available
in the Marketplace at www.gfwc.org. They are
inexpensive. All of them have space to include contact
information (some are even pocket size to carry in your
purse). You can also create your own to highlight some of the
achievements of your own club! Great things to hand out at
any event.
- Club
Website – keep it
updated. Have a link from the GFWC of MA
website to your own club page. **** Don’t forget to
include the address in news articles, flyers & PSAs ***
- Use
GFWC and the GFWC emblem in any club material (press
releases, flyers, etc)
- Wear
your membership pin – great conversation
starter.
Ok…
we know how to share the secret, but what do we say & how
should we say it?
- Use the GFWC
Stylebook (available on www.GFWC.org).
It contains
GFWC’s mission statement, proper emblem usage and guidelines
on useful phrases & messages to use when writing about your own
club’s activities
- Press
Release Templates
How
do we work with Public Relations & Communications?
- Let them
know about upcoming events
- Someone
writes an article about the club – PLEASE send a copy
- When in
doubt – JUST ASK FOR HELP !
The
goal is for EVERYONE to share the SAME message about GFWC of MA!
