Our Nation is faced with a continued crisis in natural resources.


We have a responsibility to ensure the preservation, protection and restoration of natural environment and natural ecosystems, vegetation and wildlife along with prevention of excessive or wasteful use of our resources.

Conservation Community Service Program Goals:
  • Enhance our environment for healthier living
  • Bring GFWC to the forefront by way of conservation programs
Our Call to Action

Educate Ourselves
 
by assessing community needs regarding natural resources, preservation, beautification, litter and waste handling and invasive species.
Inform Others –
Work with school officials, scouts, and other youth groups;         
Work with local agencies and other community groups.  Use media outlets to educate
Create Change –
Initiate a wildflower planting project; Develop a Yard of the Month event; Work with your state forestry service.  Participate in shoreline, stream, and waterway clean-ups

Collaboration and Partnership

Collaboration Ideas:

  • Beautification of a park
  • Educate others about manufacturing and recycling
  • Organize a Waterway Cleanup

  • Write a feature article about conservation for the National Audubon Society 
  • Evaluate the conservation needs of the community

Collaboration

Work with the Humane Society to get a grant for care of animals in the shelter. The Humane Society has a partnership agreement with GFWC.

The Girl Scouts in town want to do a clean up for Earth Day on April 22, the Woman’s Club works with them and donates to the day by cleaning up the trash along a section of the river.
