LEGISLATION CHANGES OUR
LIVES
- GFWC
participates in civic life at
national, state and local levels
- Once passed
by a majority vote at a GFWC International
Convention, GFWC International resolutions become action items and
member state organizations may go into action as advocates
and supporters and speak for them.
- Once
GFWC of Massachusetts resolutions are passed, that is, accepted by
majority vote at a fall, midwinter or annual meeting, those resolutions
also become action items for GFWC of Massachusetts clubs.
- When
club members write, call and meet with legislators and their staffs,
they are able to let our GFWC concerns be known before those
legislators vote.
AFTER
THE SUICIDE OF A
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT WHO HAD BEEN BULLIED, GFWC OF MASSACHUSETTS, PASSED
A RESOLUTION WHICH SUPPORTS ANTI-BULLYING LEGISLATION.
LEGISLATION REFLECTING THIS RESOLUTION HAS BEEN PASSED AND
SIGNED INTO LAW.
OUR GOAL, SUGGESTED BY
GFWC’S SIGNATURE PROJECT, IS TO ELIMINATE DOMESTIC
VIOLENCE. WE SUPPORT THE VICTIMS OF
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE .WE SUPPORT THE CARE AND SERVICES THEY AND
THEIR FAMILIES NEED TO BE STRONG AND INDEPENDENT.
