Publicity
Book Contest
Publicity
books are a documentation of a club’s outreach activity for
the year. Each club is allowed to send one Club Publicity
Book to the GFWC of Massachusetts Publicity Chairman for judging.
Publicity books are judged by a panel of individuals expert in their
fields whether they be publishing, editing, marketing etc.
Awards are presented to clubs whose public relations outreach denotes a
strong, creative effort as indicated in their publicity
books. When reviewing, judges award points as follows.
- 50 percent
for newspaper articles and TV & Radio coverage,
- 30 percent
for other kinds of publicity such as: brochures, flyers, signs, paid
advertisements, new member kits, membership cards, creative web pages
(include examples in a section following the clippings),
- 20 percent
for presentation and ease of handling.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR JUDGING
- Materials in
the books should have been prepared and printed or aired between
January 1, 2010 and December 31 2010 for the 2011 entry (and between
January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011 for the 2012 entry)
- Be sure to
put the date the article appeared and the name of the publications in
which it appeared on EACH clipping.
- Include all
electronic media coverage. Video, audiocassettes and CDs can
be submitted, but do not put them into the book.
- Although
publicity books are judged mainly on content, it is important that
material is presented in an organized fashion, with articles securely
fastened to pages and key information
highlighted.
- The judges
find it helpful if you provide one or two sentences (no more)
explaining a project or program you have publicized.
- List the
local radio and television stations to which club news was sent.
- On the front
page of the book, include the following:
Name of club
Name of club contact
Number of club members
City or Town of club with population
figures
- Print the
name of your club and the contest year on the outside cover of the
book.
- Your book
should be in a lightweight, 8.5 x 11 inch binder or cover.
(Points may be deducted if the book is oversized and difficult to
handle.) Your materials can be in only ONE book.
- Enclose a
self-addressed stamped package of the necessary size with appropriate
size to ensure the return of the Publicity book.
NOTE:
Only those entries that include the self-addressed stamped envelope
will be returned.
